My Let Love Rule Tattoo
I had first seen Lenny in concert during his Electric Chuch Tour (2005?). Then in 2006 when my son was 16 I took him to see Lenny open for Aerosmith. In June of 2011 I took my son to see Lenny open for U2 (he was then 21). Later that summer I was out to dinner with my son on the waterfront in Tacoma, WA where I live. It was beautiful, the sun was setting. Good food, good company, and I had a drink in my hand. I thought to myself how perfect the evening was as I enjoy spending time with my son and what song comes on in the background? LET LOVE RULE. My son then says to me, "Mom, if I get a Let Love Rule tattoo, will you?" I said "Do you even have to ask?" and laugh as he knows how much I love Lenny.
I didn't really think my son was serious about getting the tattoo. When and if we did get a LLR tattoo, I thought I would get it on my back written in a heart, and that my son would get it done in another style. Well, around Christmastime my son started asking about the tattoo again and telling me that is what he wanted for his 22nd bday present in January. Around that same time a FB friend of mine from France had sent me Lenny's handwriting from his European Tour book. Then I really thought it would mean more to me if the tattoo was done in LENNY'S HANDWRITING. So in January 2012 my son and I went and got the matching tattoos done for his birthday. Both on the right forearm, both in Lenny's handwriting. It means so much to me that my son wanted this done, and as we left the tattoo shop I said, "Now we are bonded for life" Silly I know, I am like that. My son says, "Mom, we already were!" I was a little leary of getting a tattoo on my forearm, but every time I look at it, I smile. I mean how can you go wrong with Let Love Rule? A powerful message!
